The morning dawns cool and crisp, the rain of the prior day giving way to a cool breeze and light cloud cover which lasts through the day. Highs never break 60f, but shops turn up their heating, making a comforting mix of warmth and cold for travelers.

--- Gossip ---

Astech 1: You hear about that intruder?
Astech 2: Yeah, it was scary, hearing gunshots, terrible way to wake up.
Astech 1: What's the security even for, if they're letting people in?
Astech 2: I don't know, but I know I'm sleeping with my gun under my pillow tonight.
Astech 1: I think I may go get a hotel.

Kamaitachi: Yes, Red-sama. I was on duty. No... Red-sama, I didn't... I know that our company... Of course. You're right. I will do better.
Grendel: ... he mad?
Kamaitachi: He said he almost wanted to let Blue talk to me.
Grendel: Oh. He's mad.

Socialite: My butler tells me that the servants have been gossiping from the Winters home. Apparently the Duchess and her older daughter got into a screaming row last night.
Gossip: Really? I've always thought that family was rotten. Little wonder, considering their extraction.
Socialite: I'm sure you'd never say that to her face.
Gossip: Well of course not, but still, ex-Capellans don't change their stripes.
Socialite: Hmmm, and where is your family from again, darling?
Gossip: It's different from the Free Worlds League!

--- Headlines ---

Rumors abound of the arrival of Justin Allard Liao on Solaris - reporters have confirmed that something is going on in the Governor's mansion in the Black Hills, and negotiations have been underway with several broadcasting and arena agents - perhaps a return to the arena is coming? Sources consider this unlikely, but the mystery has still sparked widespread speculation, along with some unrest among the Silesian underclass, who view Allard as an untrustworthy spy at heart, and one who should never have been allowed near the royal family.

Just a day after the announcement of the new component developments by the New Avalon Institute of Science, tragedy has struck as a mysterious fire has claimed the life of the project head. In a stroke of luck, the university had moved the jump drive components to FedCom shipyards just hours earlier - meaning that even after death, her work will go on to enrich the lives of the citizens of the Federated Commonwealth, and the Inner Sphere as a whole. Rumors of foul play are currently denied by FedCom investigators.

In a shocking turn of events, Theodore Kurita, son of the coordinator and head of the DCMS, has announced that he will be visiting the Free World's League for discussions with Thomas Marik in regards to trade arrangements - a discussion supported by Comstar as a sign of inter-house cooperation and peaceful enterprise. The discussions have been denounced by the Federated Commonwealth as arms deals intended to threaten the security of the nation, but this has been denied thus far, and both Marik and Kurita has agreed to allow observers to the negotiations to prove their good faith.
