Major Creed entered the mercenary life after a short, relatively eventful career in the DCMS, born in the Rasalhague district. He saw conflict in all the recent wars, and was utterly blindsided by the decision to release the Rasalhague province as a separate sovereign entity after all this time. Castigated by his own people, and distrusted by his comrades in arms, he realized quickly that he had no place on either side of the border, leaving to find his own path.

That journey took him to Solaris, though he quickly grew sick of the attitude of the denizens of the game world, and moved onward, settling on mercenary work as an acceptable alternative. A relatively relaxed man, considering his background, he still holds values of fraternity and unit loyalty in high regard, and expects the same of his subordinates. The sudden growth of the company has been somewhat overwhelming, and one wonders if this trip to Solaris 7 isn't a way to avoid confronting the new responsibilities all at once.

[Nora Crossette]

The woman in charge of keeping the Fortunate Ones fed, clothed, and armed, Nora is perpetually exhausted. It isn't known if or when she sleeps, though given how much coffee she drinks, there is a betting pool on whether she even can sleep now.

A short and businesslike woman, she has a soft spot for new hires and those who have yet to grow jaded, offering advice when asked, and when she can spare the time. Though she might be the company mom, she's also working three jobs to keep the entire operation running, and she'll often be seen in the background, working out details, though she doesn't take or accept credit for how hard she toils. She has been seeming more grumpy lately, though the reason is not clear.

[Alexei Herald]

The captain of the dropship Calico is an unimposing man: tall, lanky, and composed. He has the air and presence of a man with decades of experience, yet still seems surprisingly nimble, despite his age... whatever that actually is. He is often seen drinking from a hip flask, but when pressed, will confess that it's just coffee, and it's more of a style thing. 'Have to keep up my image, you know.'

His hobbies include giving commentary on the Solaris re-runs that play in the crew lounge, reading antique novels, and giving unsolicited advice about largely irrelevant subjects. He seems to enjoy all the idiosyncrasies of his ship, even though most people would view them as safety risks and mildly terrifying. After the expedition to Illium he has agreed to transport the company to Solaris 7 - a chance for his crew to have shore leave while the ship undergoes exterior repairs to finish fixing the damage it suffered on assignment.

Director Lucretzia Winters founded the Echo Excavation and Research Group two years ago, courtesy of an unknown donor. She is a bit of a mystery, as her record prior to founding the Group is quite unremarkable - a rather bland university life with good grades and no scandals, and then a few years of work as a junior researcher for the Kyoto college. The jump from that to Director of an independent research group is notably large, and the academic community was watching, either to see her reveal why she earned her grant, or to see her crash and burn. The academic community somewhat got their wish when the benefactor was revealed to be her mother, who pulled funding after the unexpectedly tumultuous expedition to Illium nearly cost her and her sister their lives, though they also found many interesting historical tidbits and materials, leading to a mixed reception from the academic communities of the inner sphere.

A relatively tall and thin woman, her pale skin and dark hair lend her an almost otherworldly air, and her dark eyes reveal very little of what she is thinking.

Her personality is, by all accounts, cold. She doesn't have a very large social circle, and can be found at work late into the day. The staff can't decide if this is inspirational or uncomfortable, and it has only gotten worse since her estrangement with her family.

[Derrick Fencer]

Born with a name too similar to the legendary Duncan Fisher, Derrick Fencer was always in love with the big radio voice of his inspiration, even if he were to be cursed to unfavorable comparison with his childhood hero. Still, Derrick Fencer has carved out a career in seedy radio broadcasting, underground and second string mech arenas, and advertising.

A lanky and somewhat slouched man, he still musters enthusiasm for every broadcast, ever if he seems like an absolute slacker the rest of the time.

It's rumored he has connections with organized crime, but those rumors are discounted by his fans as the sorts of slander spread by 'mainstream' critics.

[Hirumi Oda]

The dignified and sultry owner of the Moondrop Onsen is an expat from the Draconis Combine, a woman wrapped in rumor and mystery, but possessed of wealth and sufficient loyalty to her home nation to set up in the Solaris 7 quarter traditionally allotted to Combine expatriates and open a somewhat authentic onsen, using heat from the underground power generators which run the nearby arenas to heat the mineral water baths and serving a mixture of authentic Combine cuisine and modern fusions with popular dishes and drinks from around the inner sphere.

Some claim she's an informant for the Combine secret service, others imply she's an agent of the Order of the 5 Pillars, others still claim she's a former lover of the Kanrei, on the run from his wife. For every rumor there is another, more ridiculous rumor, and for all of them there is silence from Hirumi Oda.

[Morgana Winters]

Duchess Morgana Winters married into the Winters family line from a minor house of Capellan nobility, a fact which her detractors are quick to point out, but which has done little to undermine her ongoing success as a staple of northeastern Lyran high society. While possessed of the same cold beauty and cool demeanor as her daughters, she maintains a remarkable poise in the face of her detractors, always coming out ahead of those who seek to undermine her, leaving them seeming petty and petulant. Under her guidance the family fortunes have flourished in international trade and investment, lucrative manufacturing deals with the FWL and Capellan Commonwealth keeping the family coffers overflowing, especially in such times of uncertainty.

After the early death of her husband to illness, she has remained a widow, raising their two daughters alone. Despite the difficult relationship she has with both young women, she seems to be remarkably protective, nonetheless, and many a suitor has been mysteriously discouraged from pursuing them after failing to impress the Duchess Winters. By the same token, however, she seems determined to eventually find a man deserving of her daughters, and is now viewed as something of a menace to any young bachelor, possibly swooping in at any society event and scaring away the young ladies - asking delicately phrased questions to ascertain their worth.

Despite her age, she is remarkably youthful in appearance, and one could be forgiven for assuming she was in her mid thirties, rather than approaching mid-life. Only her eyes betray her age, weighted with experience and cold calculation.
